Keeping My Brain in Order – New Year’s Organisation

I’m not really all that bothered about New Year resolutions. I see little point in chaining yourself to a list of unattainable aims, desires that you know you will never fulfil, and which you thus sit around feeling depressed about for the year until the chance comes to make them all over again next year, and begin the circle yet again.

Still, I almost always think about little things that I could kind of do with fixing. You know, the niggles that you keep meaning to do, and which you are only ever likely to act upon if you find a way to emotionally blackmail yourself into doing them. Tidying your room, for example (“I can’t start the new year living in a filthy uncleaned cess-pit, I must whisk around with Cillit Bang and good intentions until my life glistens. In fact, if my house is clean and tidy, then my life must be GOOD!”).

The current theme of this sort of niggle is organisation. I am constantly adrift in a sea of pieces of tissue, receipts and paper, brain full of things I’m meant to remember and things I’m meant to remind people about. I write down addresses and lose them, I start multiple diaries and strew them around the house like expensive dated doorstops. I come up with ideas for blog topics that, I’m sure, are nothing short of literary genius. My big break, forgotten in seconds!

So, I need to get organised. I need some sort of diary, with pages for lists, and addresses, and other crap that passes into and out of my life on a daily basis.

Where to get it? Maybe this Moleskine Pac-Man diary will do the job… or a filofax. Any suggestions, anyone?!
